June 2014: Show success for Poll Dorsets
We’ve been busy out and about at a few local shows in the last couple of weeks, firstly at Heathfield Show then at Surrey County and finally at the South of England Show.
It’s been a great start to the show season, despite having to leave the male entries at home due to an outbreak of orf! At Heathfield we picked up two firsts and a third as well as champion in the Any Other British Shortwool section with our shearling ewe.
Then at Surrey County we came away with a second and a fourth prize, while Chloe was second in her Young Handlers class.
And at South of England it was another successful outing in the Poll Dorset classes where we were first and second in the ewe lambs and second in the shearling ewes. The first prize ewe lamb then went on to placed reserve breed champion and the second prize lamb was second in the shortwool wool on the hoof class.
Chloe also did well in the Young Handlers here, picking up a sixth prize in a very strong class. On top of that we also won first prize in the sheep exhibitors stand competition.
